The Coldstream Brewery was initially the inspiration of four neighborhood friends, and it first opened its doors to beer aficionados and diners in June of 2007.
All of the things that make life worth living can be found at Coldstream Brewery, including delicious beer and cider, casual dining, and friendly people, and it is located just on the doorstep of the breathtaking Yarra Valley.
In the middle of Coldstream sits a historic brick building that has been lovingly renovated to contain a restaurant and a bar. The restaurant serves lunch and dinner with food that is fresh, unfussy, and derived from local sources. It is washed down with beers and ciders produced by Coldstream, as well as a well-stocked bar that supports other producers from the Yarra Valley. Additionally, the restaurant serves locally roasted coffee.
Because of the increasing demand for Coldstream Brewery beers and ciders, manufacturing was moved off-site, and the old brewery is now used as a function facility that can accommodate a variety of different types of celebratory gatherings and corporate activities.
The Coldstream Brewery offers tastings of their beers and ciders, as well as the ability to purchase them to take home. They also offer seasonal limited releases of short-run brews on tap.

Now that we had the concept for the cider down pat, we needed to find a brewery. In 2005, we started out by acquiring our first kit online without first physically inspecting it. The location of the sight was unknown, and it was in New Zealand. We had only three days to carefully disassemble the brewery and pack it into shipping containers before we had to make the trip to Drury, which is located just outside of Auckland.
It was a very close fit!
After the equipment had been shipped to Australia, our next duty was to locate a suitable location for the brewery. That’s correct, we recently acquired a brewery, but there was no space for it!
We are frequently questioned about who or what the Shivering Man is. The Shivering Man has been given a prominent location on both our roof and our product labels. He is symbolic of the harsh environment of Coldstream as well as the courage required to expose oneself and take the plunge in order to pursue one’s passion. This is precisely what five friends did in 2007 in order to establish Coldstream Brewery and turn it into what it is today.
