Famous for it’s ancient Cambrian soils (rich red volcanic and deep soil with excellent water retention) – which help to produce the world’s best Shiraz, Heathcote makes the perfect day trip or weekend away for those guests looking to explore beyond the Yarra Valley and Peninsula.
Heathcote wines are defined by their inky depth of colour and deep, dark complex fruit wines that are simply well balanced, smooth, and sought after to enjoy. As well as the shiraz, Heathcote also produces excellent examples of Sangiovese, Tempranillo, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot in the reds and in whites. The Voigner, Marsanne, Riesling, Chardonnays and Sauvignon blanc of this region are simply devine.
Experiencing these wonderful wineries is a day out you will not forget and a great chance to stock up your cellar with a few bottles of the wine you enjoy. So bring your friends and join us on an epic tour in Victoria’s up-and-coming winery region. This tour’s price person includes tastings at 3 wineries, a gourmet lunch, a fully licensed and CPVV accredited driver, private transport including a complimentary pick-up and drop-off service from a location of your choice within Melbourne CBD.

With the combination of an incredible vineyard site producing outstanding fruit, Sanguine Estate produces exceptional wines, recognised through countless awards and trophies including the most coveted regional trophy the “Heathcote Grand Terroir”.
At their RED 5 star James Halliday rated winery and cellar door, you’ll be greeted by one of the Hunter family and can enjoy tastings of their highly awarded wines within the winery or on the terrace overlooking their beautiful property.
Our 2nd stop is Jasper Hill, Australia’s most individual and compelling Shiraz wine makers. Beginning in 1975, they were pioneers in Victoria’s Heathcote region.
The geology in their wines matters. The vineyards are planted on a strip of Cambrian soil that is found between two faults. The predominant soil type is a deep red/brown gravelly loam that allows low vigour vine growth without irrigation. Because the vineyards are at an altitude of some 300 m, this is a relatively cool climate area for Australia.
In the winery they take a minimal intervention approach. No synthetic chemicals, fertilisers or acidification is necessary: this is rare in Australia. The goal is to produce wines that reflect their terroirs.
Tellurian’s organic winemaking is minimalistic and gentle. When you drink the wines, they want you to smell and taste the beauty of each variety as they grow in the individual vineyards; to recognise Heathcote in your glass.
Blessed with the 550 million-year-old Cambrian soils, Tellurian vineyards became home to the plantings of Shiraz, Grenache, Mourvèdre, Marsanne, Viognier, Fiano and Nero d’avola.
You can expect to be taken through an extensive list of wines at the cellar door either inside their intimate tasting room or outside on the deck if there weather is pleasant. From the deck you have sweeping views across the vineyard. The team can be as in depth (or not) about the region and their style of winemaking and love it when groups hurl questions at them as there isn’s much they can’t answer.
This winery will certainly impress even the most seasoned wine tourers and it is likely you won’t leave empty handed as it will be hard to find a nicer drop then here.
As the day comes to an end, it is time to wrap up and leave the Yarra Valley and head back home.
Our tour guide will return you to your desired drop off location(s) within Metropolitan Melbourne.

Yes, Lunch is included in this tour package.
A full-day wine tour booking includes 8 hours; this includes the time from the first pickup to the final drop-off. However, there are exceptions to this in case of extreme weather conditions, traffic incidents, etc.
Example of a standard tour: Tour begins at 10 am from pick up point in Melbourne CBD, driver & passengers arrive at Heathcote at 11 am, return to Melbourne CBD to finish the tour at 6.00pm.
If multiple pickup pickups/drop-offs are required, then it is recommended to plan your day ahead to avoid exceeding the 8-hour tour duration.
Not strictly, we may allow up to an extra 30 minutes as no one is perfect, and going overtime can happen. However, if an 8-hour tour ends up being a 9- or 10-hour tour then you will be charged overtime.
It is important to note that the driver is booked for 8 hours and longer hours of driving result in fatigue which is not ideal for the safety of the driver and passengers on board.
