Red Gum BBQ

Red Gum BBQ

Martin and Melissa were so close to giving up on their ambition of opening their own restaurant in 2015 that they almost did. Now, you may find their Red Gum BBQ hut packed with joyful customers enjoying one of their beef briskets or their favorite pulled pork dishes. They also serve ribs and chicken. The position is not immediately obvious. You will have to go through a gas station on your way to a shed that is positioned in the back. On the other hand, once you step inside, you will be greeted by the scent of smoked meat and a sense of community that is unlike anything you have ever encountered before.

You are able to completely submerge yourself in the atmosphere of a southern-type restaurant thanks to the decor that is designed in an American manner. After all, Melissa spent her childhood in the United States, and she has always been aware that people in Australia are missing out. They call themselves a “barbecue join,” and their focus is on providing customers with good beer, good food, and good experiences. Both Martin and Melissa have improved their abilities during the course of their careers.

The Red Gum brand is about as genuine as it gets. Red gum wood is used as fuel in their smokers rather than gas, as you could have surmised from the phrase. Before relocating into the enormous industrial shed that they now refer to as home, they made a lot of visits to the nearby markets, which allowed them to hone their skills in both the science and the art of doing what they do. Because it has such a large bar and such a diverse selection of local beers on tap, it is also the ideal location for putting in some elbow grease.

You’ll be able to celebrate Grandma’s sixtieth birthday alongside a bachelor party because there is sufficient space to accommodate both events. It works perfectly well. People are drawn in because of the atmosphere that they’ve created there. They place a high priority on the restoration of face-to-face interaction. It is possible that you will find yourself seated with a group of people you have never met before; nonetheless, this is what makes the experience so special. Because the tables at Red Gum BBQ are set up in a communal fashion, by the time the night is over, you will have met some new people.

The group exclusively purchases wines from the Mornington Peninsula and places a strong emphasis on cultivating partnerships with proprietors of other local businesses. They are the only restaurant in Australia to hold a B Corp certification, so they are well aware of how important it is to source their meat in an ethical manner. New specials are introduced every week, and the beef brisket they serve is consistently one of their most popular items. You just need to slather on some of Red Gum’s handmade sauces, and you’ll have yourself a satisfying meal.

You can view the smoke rising from Wednesday through Sunday between the hours of 11 a.m. and 9 p.m., but on Monday and Tuesday it is only possible by appointment.
